If you have a litter kicker like I do (we won’t name any names here, but her name starts with the letter “R”…), you know it’s a constant battle to keep the area around the litter box clean. I’ve always used a Dustbuster, and it worked fine, but it didn’t always pick up everything. When the pr agency for Bissell contacted me to see if I wanted to try the Bissell ideal sweep Turbo, I was certainly interested.
The Bissell ideal sweep Turbo is a cordless rechargeable sweeper. The product is described as follows:
Easy quick cleaning: powerful brushes clean crumbs, dirt and pet hair on bare floor and carpet.
Up to 60 minutes of cleaning Time: long-life, rechargeable battery
Versatile and lightweight: two edge brushes clean along baseboards and in corners.
Handle lies flat for low reach and unit converts to handheld sweeper
Easy empty dirt cup
It does all of these things, and it does them well. I was, of course, mainly curious about how it would do with kitty litter. It did great, both on my berber carpet upstairs, and on indoor/outdoor carpet (very low pile) downstairs. It also did well on my kitchen floor.
It seems to hold the charge well.
It is very lightweight, and even better, very quiet. It maneuvers easily into corners that my regular vacuum cleaner can’t get into, and it also lies flat so you can reach underneath furniture. If you want to use it as a handheld, simply pull out the handle, and it works just as well.
It’s much more cat friendly than a regular vacuum cleaner. At our house, the vaccuum is known as “the monster with the snake.” Ruby runs at the first sight of it coming out of its cave. Allegra doesn’t mind the vacuum, but hates the cord. She stalks and attacks it when it moves. Oddly enough, Allegra initially didn’t like the Bissell ideal sweep Turbo, even though it’s much quieter than a regular vacuum cleaner, but she’s gotten used to it and no longer stalks it.
Another big test for me for these types of appliances is how easy they are to clean. It couldn’t be simpler with this one. The dirt cup is clear, so you can see when it’s full. It easily lifts off without spilling out any of the trapped dirt. Shake it out into the trashcan, snap it back in place, and you’re back in business.
If you’re you’re searching for an easy and effective way to clean up little messes, especially scattered kitty litter, the Bissell ideal sweep Turbo will do a great job for you.
For much more information about the Bissell ideal sweep Turbo, please visit Bissell’s website. Bissell is currently offering $5 off on all ideal sweep Turbo sweepers from bissell.com using the promotion code PERFECTSWEEPCAT.
And even though this did not influence my review in any shape or form, it’s always good to hear that companies whose products you like also do their share to help animals in need. Last week, Bissell donated $50,000 to the Petfinder.com Foundation, a nonprofit public charity that helps homeless animals by saving their lives through adoptions. part of that donation will be disbursed in a series of grants to help 10 Petfinder.com shelters and rescue groups in need of help.
There’s a little story behind the photo. I asked Bissell’s pr rep whether they had any photos of the Bissell ideal sweep Turbo with a cat. They didn’t, but the rep managed to convince her cat Juno to pose with her sweeper. She took 200 photos to get the one above – now that’s dedication. thank you, Tanya! Isn’t Juno beautiful?

We could use one. A broom works better than our crappy sweeper. The Dyson works best but it’s so heavy.

Layla, I hate dragging out the full size vacuum for minor clean ups, too.
